Summer Style: Skirts + Sneakers
Ladies, this is it. The sweet spot where street meets mom style. Where fashion and function decide to combine their formidable powers into a comfy chic ensemble. All that is required of you is a cute skirt and some sneakers. That's it!
This look works with both casual and dressier, midi and mini skirts. My advice would be to choose the length that is the best match for your height first, and then your lifestyle. For example, at 5'8" I like a midi skirt because it's long enough to hide my rear but short enough to show my shoes. For you it may be different but hey: you do you, girlfriend!
Best of all, these four looks are easy to do on a budget. You can shop your closet to recreate these looks for free! You can use this as another excuse to go shopping at Target (you're welcome). You can even shop these exact looks here because nothing cost over $100, not even the sneakers or the silk skirt. And yes that includes those sneakers that look like Golden Goose but really aren't.
Golden Goose (Lookalikes) + Metallic Pleats
Found these designer dupe sneakers and metallic pleated skirt each for under $20! The skirt also comes in both yellow and rose gold, so pretty for going into fall and holiday. Also check these sneakers in the leopard print, so good right?
Adidas + Leopard Print
This skirt, y'all. Dressy enough for a dinner date, but cool enough to style with sneakers and a bold graphic tee for mom duty. Style tip: I like tucking the t-shirt into the high-waisted skirt or tying it into a knot at the back. (A front or side knot may be too distracting with all the print going on.)
Chuck Taylors + Blue Stripes
At this point my love for this $14 bodysuit is well documented (see more ways to style it HERE). It's the best piece to lend a little sass to a sweet striped skirt and white sneakers. This skirt is several seasons old by now and still a classic. Obvi the same goes for the shoes.
Vans + Polka Dots
Looking for a travel outfit? I swear by a light, breezy skirt with sneakers when traveling to a city. It's comfy for the ride, and plenty cute for when you arrive. You can style it with a black top or bodysuit, or mix your prints with a graphic tee. Either way the Vans are this skirt's best friend.
What are your feelings on sneakers styled with skirts? Is this a look you're down to rock or are you on the fence? Talking to some of my girlfriends I get the sense some women feel like they can't wear this look because they feel stumpy. That's because they haven't found the right length skirt for them yet! Or maybe even the right sneakers. Believe me, there's a sneakers and skirt combo out there with your name on it!
