What I Wore, Where We Went In Atlanta
Good morning friends! So it's officially June now and this year feels like it's flying by. Yet somehow Harlow's only been out of school for two weeks and it feels like two months. One thing they never tell you about mom life -- it's a time warp no matter how you slice it.
We just got back from our trip to Atlanta for Mike's cousin, Jordan's, bridal shower. You may remember how HOT it was last week across the south. I wore this airy polka dot maxi skirt and Led Zeppelin band tee for our road trip. Comfortable to travel in, stylish enough for anything fun we may get into once we hit the city. I knotted my t-shirt at the waist to keep my waist defined and my proportions correct. (Style tip reminder: it's 2-to-1/3s, don't ever cut your body in half!)
For dinner Friday night we went to Two Urban Licks, a trendy restaurant on the BeltLine serving modern American smokehouse fare in a renovated warehouse. The outdoor area comes with city views -- highly recommend! Definitely order the salmon chips and baked oysters. They also serve 'New World wines' from barrels displayed in a two-story barrel wall that's pretty cool to look at. I love a buttery chardonnay wine (basic house wife alert!) and loved their Custard chardonnay.
I wore this leopard skirt with a fitted bodysuit -- it's the perfect top to wear with this skirt to keep the silhouette sleek. I always size up in bodysuits so they're not so snug and fit my longer torso better. I carried my new designer dupe PVC croc bag (yay!); love how it coordinates with these heeled sandals. (Sorry for the squinty eyes, there was a glare haha.)
On Saturday before the shower my girl LC picked me up for a mimosa date at the St. Regis. I could live on this outdoor terrace. The whole hotel was stunning, as you'd imagine.
Two minutes away from the hotel is the Swan Coach House, the perfect spot for a bridal shower! It oozes genteel southern charm and the luncheon is quintessential 'ladies who lunch in the southern heat' fare. Chicken salad, a frozen fruit salad that was so refreshing, and a peachy champagne punch. The Swan Coach House is divided into several rooms with both covered and outdoor patios so they can entertain several parties at once; they do a good job of keeping them separate and private though.
I wore this mint green dress to the shower and received so many compliments on it! It makes a perfect dress for spring and summer weddings, bridal showers, and baby showers. Fit notes: I ordered my typical size. It's fitted but stretchy. If between sizes, I'd go up one.
It looks like my dress is currently sold out so I linked similar options as well!
My beautiful sister-in-law who lives in Florida and I don't get to see nearly enough!
So happy to be together celebrating the beautiful bride!
The Swan Coach House is actually on the grounds of the Swan Mansion, a sprawling southern estate built by the Inmans in the late 1920s. By the looks of the doorman in his quasi-gangster attire and twang, they like to tap into the Jazz Age vibe that was happening at the time the mansion was built. We couldn't go in but (secretly) snapped a few pics from the bottom of the terraced lawn. I'd love to go back to visit!
While we ladies lunched at the Swan Coach House, Mike and Uncle Rusty took Harlow and her cousin Celine to the Georgia Aquarium. They LOVED it and both came home with souvenir dolphins. Sadly Harlow didn't pick the octopus hat LOL.
Saturday night we went to a casual Tex-Mex dinner at Tin Lizzy's Cantina, only about a mile from our hotel. We sat outside and relaxed after a fun but busy day. I didn't snap an outfit pic so I'll just post item pics of what I wore. This is a definite repeat outfit so I'll be wearing it again! Very comfy and breezy, perfect for a hot day.
We had the best time in Atlanta and can't wait to go back! I'd like to visit the Aquarium myself, as well as the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Margaret Mitchell House, and more spots within Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park.
If you live in Atlanta, shoot me a message and send me your favorite spots to visit! I love touring historical spots, hitting up the kid-friendly places, and grabbing delicious food in pretty restaurants in between haha!
Hope you had a lovely weekend and are gearing up for another beautiful week! It's a busy one here in AVL!
