Snakeskin Print Shorts For Day or Date Night
Hey y'all! A quick post today, but something I felt the need to share. I got dressed to take Harlow to her last day of school (*tear*) and put on these snakeskin print shorts, a black top, and some sandals. It got my stylist mental wheels turning because I realized I could apply the exact same formula -- shorts, black top, sandals -- to dress up this daytime look for date night.
That word -- "formula" -- is key here. Because sometimes the best outfits can be whittled down to a simple equation you can use over and over again. To toggle from day to night, it's just about switching into a dressier version of the same piece. Here's how easily you can break it down:
Top: A simple v-neck black top for day; a ruffly black blouse with a fun neckline for night.
Shoes: A flat strappy sandal for day; a heeled sandal for night.
Bag: A neutral tote bag for day; a neutral shoulder bag for night.
Jewelry: Simple gold layering necklaces for day; simple gold hoops for night.
You can see how similar these day and night looks are! All you need is one good pair of printed shorts and the rest is easy to fill in from your closet. And it doesn't need to be expensive, either. I found these snakeskin print shorts for just $13!!! They come in several other prints and colors, too. They are very well made and look way more expensive than you'd ever guess they actually cost. Sizing note: I sized down to a 4 so the high-waisted elastic band would sit on my natural waist and they fit great.
I'm a big believer in figuring out outfit formulas. Whittling down all the bells and whistles to the bare bones of the look. When you reduce an outfit to it's most basic components, suddenly it doesn't feel so difficult, and you understand how you can repeat the look you like with other pieces, and/or for other occasions.
THIS is true versatility! THIS is how you shop on a budget to look like you splurged. THIS is how you pack for vacation, when your pieces can be dressed up or down depending on which way your day takes you. Isn't that the beauty of vacay after all? Letting one moment take you to the next!
I hope you find that style tip useful as you move into your summer wardrobe! Can't believe summer has (un)officially started! Thank you for coming to my blog today, I appreciate you so very much!
