8 Ways To Style A Leopard Midi Skirt From Winter To Spring

Despite our current certainty that this winter is gonna last for-evs, spring IS a-comin'. And with it a whole slew of new style trends including one that's not new or really a trend at all: leopard print. The print that's now considered a neutral, the purr-fect pop of something to add to almost any ensem. Leopard print is where it's at, and this season it's all about the leopard midi skirt.

A leopard print skirt is like Switzerland, maintaining a solid middle ground of compatibility with both neutrals and other prints. If you're looking for a new way to wear old basics, this is your piece. If you're looking for a piece to dress up or down, this is your piece. It's got that desk-to-drinks, work-to-weekend thing down PAT! Sweaters or sandals, you can style a leopard midi skirt for all weather and any occasion.

IMO a leopard print skirt is a rare piece that fits into just about every style type. A classic style type can wear it with a chambray button-down blouse and flat sandals. The boho girl can pair it with a slouchy top and edgy ankle booties. The glam queen can strut her stuff in mile-high stilettos and a form-fitting knit top. In the words of E-40, "everybody got choices."

Today I'm not just talking the talk, I'm walking the walk girlfrands! I believe a leopard print midi skirt is such a great buy I'm giving you video evidence. Give it the ol' look-see to see how I style eight different outfits around the leopard skirt that can be worn from winter to spring!

**Unfortunately I can't insert the video without first uploading it to YouTube so here's what you do -- CLICK HERE to watch my leopard print skirt outfit tutorial on my Instagram TV channel!**

1 | Sweater + Booties

Between tiring of sweaters and packing them away for the year, try pairing a roomy knit sweater with your leopard midi. Between a French tuck, cropped silhouette, or tie-front detail, be sure to define your waist in the way that best suits your figure and waist line of the skirt. Finish with a black leather heeled bootie. I LOOOOVE these sassy Marc Fisher booties but I also swear by Rag & Bone booties (what I'm wearing in the video). They're expensive but the quality, comfort, and durability is top notch.

2 | Camisole + Blazer + Oxfords

To the office. To brunch. Whether for meetings or mimosas, it's hard to beat a simple black camisole worn with a leopard midi skirt and black blazer. The black oxford gives the dressy-ish look a modern sophistication with a dose of street savvy. I like the oxfords for daytime with this look, and a strappy heel for evening.

3 | graphic tee + Combat Boots

Where my '90s girls at? What's old is new again with this grunge era-inspired look. Feel free to pair a band tee of your choosing with the skirt as long as the tones match. In this case, the warm caramel tones in the skirt complement the warm tones of the shirt logo's sunset. *When you're wondering why things "go together" it's often bc of something on this level.* If combat boots aren't your thing (even though I'm telling you Docs are so comfortable and the best rain boots ever) try wearing this look with a heeled white ankle bootie.

4 | turtleneck + Ankle Strap heels

Classy. Chic. Head b**** in charge. I love how powerful yet elegant this look is. It's a fabulous mix of subtle sexiness. Be sure your turtleneck fits to a T.

5 | White Tee + White Sneakers + Teddy Bear Coat

Can you really beat a white t-shirt with a statement piece? I love the way a casual slub knit tee contrasts with the dressiness of a silk skirt. The sneaker only takes it a step farther. This is a great example of how a silk leopard print skirt does NOT have to be dressed up all the time! Sans jacket it's a perfect spring look, but if a chill is linger ing the air, throw your fave teddy bear coat over top.

6 | Chambray Blouse + Sandals

What screams spring weekend more than a comfy chambray blouse and a pair of crisp white sandals? Tie the chambray blouse into a knot at the waist to both dress down the skirt and define the waist.

7 | white Button-Up Blouse + Mules

Like the white t-shirt, a white button-front blouse goes with just about everything. It adds a casual chic vibe when tied at the waist with the cuffs rolled up. If you choose to dress this look up, substitute black or nude pumps for the mules. But for an easy off-duty outfit, go for a pair of comfy mules.

8 | Striped Tee + Denim jacket + Sandals

Are you ready for some mixed priiiiints?! Leopard and stripes is like print mixing 101, a classic formula that works just about every time. The denim jacket not only adds a layer of warmth for transitional weather, but it also breaks up the severity of the mixed prints. The black sneakers keeps it casual and pulls out the dark stripe.

I love sharing all this outfit inspo with y'all because the stylist in me is bursting with ideas! But the every day girl is loving this skirt you guys. I want to wear it all the time in all the ways I styled above. So. Good.

And like I said, there's a style idea in there for almost everyone. If a leopard midi skirt feels outside of your comfort zone I just ask you pause to ask yourself why. If you genuinely don't like it, fair enough. But don't talk yourself out of something because of an old, false narrative of what you can or can't wear. Every day is a chance to do something new!

Thanks SO much for coming by The Tony Townie today! So grateful for every single person who comes here to spend time with me. Happy Friday and happy weekend!
