Our Asheville Life: 45 Asheland Avenue Family Staycation
Over President's Day weekend we packed our bags and set up shop at 45 Asheland Avenue for a one-night family staycation. Our young family doesn't get the chance to explore downtown like we wish we could during this busy season of life. Getting to stay downtown without rushing home for naps or finding parking is a huge treat! Even better is staying somewhere that feels like home instead of an impersonal, spartan hotel room ya know?
The Asheland Avenue property is a brand new building in downtown Asheville featuring a mix of rental and full-time residential properties. The luxe modern design and amenities of each condo/suite were speaking our language, as well as the building's proximity to the heart of downtown Asheville's brewery circuit. Checking in was super easy -- they emailed us all our access codes prior to arrival (everything is keyless, very convenient!), as well as WiFi info and check out protocol.
Our condo had two bedrooms (you can rent units with one to three bedrooms), a full kitchen, comfortable living room with smart TV, two gorgeous bathrooms with walk-in glass showers, huge closets, a washer and dryer, a balcony, giant windows with mountain views....it had everything! You can get great, detailed photos of all the condos on their website but here are some snaps of our unit.
The view from our balcony off the living room.
We took advantage of their concierge services to have groceries delivered before our arrival. We got to make the list and they shopped and stocked the kitchen for us! When traveling, especially with little ones, this is a game changer!
Other concierge services they offer include dry cleaning, flowers and gift delivery, auto detailing, child and/or pet care, and transportation. Their full list of concierge services is HERE.
It was SOOOO nice sleeping in and having our typical breakfast items available in the kitchen. I love trying new restaurants but with small kids it's a LOT to get up, get dressed, and rush out the door in search of food before someone has a hangry meltdown. We enjoyed our morning at our own pace before heading out to walk around downtown for awhile.
Harlow's really into pretending to sleep and snore right now ;)
The hallway bathroom sits across from a large, spacious closet with a washer, dryer, spare linens, and extra room for hanging clothes and suitcase storage. All the closets in this place are HUGE.
Waking up to these windows with a morning mountain view was one of the highlights of our stay! The bed was very comfortable, too.
Mike has coined a new term -- "mountain bougey" -- for our his-and-hers Patagonia duffle bags. Guess who uses the big one haha!
We checked in on Sunday at 4PM, hung out in the unit awhile eating snacks and sipping adult bevs, then we took the short stroll one street over to Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company. They serve some of our favorite pizza and beer in town both under one roof! Plus they're also kid friendly; during the warm months they've got a great covered patio with corn hole boards and space for kids to stretch their legs.
Some of our favorite Asheville Brewing beers include: 828 Pale Ale; Perfect Day IPA; Ninja Porter; Rocket Girl Lager; and the holiday seasonal Ninjabread Man.
Our go-to pizza order is the Mad Mushroom, add hamburger and extra cheese.
Not only do I love the actual Ninja Porter beer, but I love the vintage band vibes of this t-shirt! I got a women's medium for reference. Asheville Brewing's merch is some of the best IMO.
After dinner we popped into Hi-Wire Brewing just around the corner from our condo. (Can I just say how much I love everything being so walkable??) With the bartender's recommendation we each tried a flight. I loved everything but the sour, I can't do those no matter who makes them.
And in true Asheville style, Harlow wrote her first letter on a flight card LOL. Taking AVL native to whole new level.
Our condo is in a prime location for the DIY downtown brewery tour I shared in my Asheville Guide. From 45 Asheland Avenue, you can easily walk to the following breweries. If you have to come back for a nap or nursing, it's easy to pop back home and then go back out! It can get hilly, FYI, so wear good shoes.
Monday morning we took our time waking up and enjoying breakfast. Did you see the part above when I talked about how their concierge service put groceries in our unit so we didn't have to bring them or run out for breakfast? It was such a wonderful touch that I highly recommend.
Once we got dressed we went to Wall Street to stroll around and grab coffee at Trade and Lore. I'd always heard such good things about this downtown Asheville coffee shop and OMG y'all, it's so beautiful and yummy! We got drip coffee and a ham and cheese croixette, which changed our lives. Half croissant, half baguette, all amazingness.
All the exposed brick, string lights, and drapery make the space so dreamy! Very peaceful and happy vibes :)
How cool is this wall you guys?? Peep Harlow's sassy crossed ankles. She was telling everyone her milk was hot coffee. Like I said, sassy.
I found my camo jacket at Asheville boutique Nest and I LOVE it! Goes with so much, adds edge to your basics.
Some snaps of other pretty sights from our coffee stroll down Wall Street and Battery Park Avenue! I love how many amazing Asheville restaurants and shops are within walking distance of 45 Asheland Avenue.
Did you know Asheville is nicknamed the 'Paris of the South?' You can see why in the architecture and design, especially in the Wall Street area.
Locals and out-of-town guests alike should experience a La Zoom tour of the city. It's informative, comical, and slightly irreverent. AND you can BYOB. You can find more recommended local tours in my Asheville guide.
If you've never tried Chai Pani's chicken pakoras you MUST! They use Joyce Farms chicken and they taste better than Chick-fil-A nuggets if that tells you anything...
We had the BEST time on our family staycation at 45 Asheland Avenue! It felt good to get away from the same old-same old and discover new places around our home town. I can't recommend 45 Asheland Avenue highly enough, or the fantastic job Towns Property Management did of making our stay comfortable and convenient. If you're visiting Asheville with your own family, partner, or group of friends you should DEFINITELY look into booking with them!
I want to keep it 100 with y'all and if I had anything to critique about our stay, I would. I want to be fair and honest. But there really isn't anything I wish would've been better or different. Every detail was amazing, and I know it's not often you can say that. My recommendation to stay here is 1000% genuine!
Thanks to Towns Property Management for accommodating us on our one-night staycation. While TPM provided us the opportunity to stay at 45 Asheland Avenue free of charge, all opinions expressed herein are my own. As an Asheville native and resident, I always maintain complete honesty when making local recommendations.
