Sale Faves for Fall
CASHMERE CARDIGAN (on sale!) // CAMISOLE (just $22) // JEANS (similar, just $30) // SHOES (on sale!) // BELT (just $30)
Hi friends! Hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend! We kept it low key around Asheville, visiting with family and hanging at the Biltmore Estate (stay tuned for an upcoming post on our day touring the Chihuly exhibit!). Didn't get much shopping done but actually it didn't matter since my favorite fall sale happening right now isn't tied to the holiday weekend.
Nordstrom's Summer Sale is going down and it's actually a misnomer because it includes SO many fall pieces. A ton of what they offered during their big NSale blowout earlier this summer is marked back down to Anniversary prices or even deeper. Just about every piece I bought is on sale again, plus some more fall-friendly items for any style and wardrobe.
There are sale pieces for everyday wear and some that are more trend-focused, so either way you win! Three categories that stick out to me right now as smart investments are 1) cashmere marked under $100, 2) fall dresses, and 3) blazers.
You're never sorry you bought the cashmere, especially when you get such a good deal. As far as trend-based dresses go, it's smart to have at least one in your closet for special occasions, events, date night, or grabbing drinks with the girls. And a blazer is your wardrobe's hero. It looks good with jeans and heels or that trusty pencil skirt. Classic stylistas can grab this chic navy blazer while a more adventurous dresser could try this menswear plaid version.
Here are my favorite picks from the current Nordstrom Summer Sale happening right now! Items I own that are on sale are mixed in with each category.
DRESSES
Plaid always seems fallish but this season it's stepping up its game, appearing on everything from jackets to pants to blouses to dresses. A plaid midi dress featuring iconic fall colors is a great piece for dressing up or down.
Prairie dresses are having a major moment this fall! If your style skews boho, this is a trend for you. This swingy peasant dress comes in both navy and red (see below) and can be worn bare-legged with a jacket or layered over tights and booties as it turns cooler.
Jewel tones always make waves come fall. You'll notice deep emeralds are particularly prevalent this year. The Victorian-inspired neckline of this pleated dress adds an extra feminine touch.
Florals aren't going away just because summer's over. Moody florals are sticking around in a big way this fall, particularly on dresses and kimono-style jackets.
CASHMERE
I'll say it 'til I'm blue in the face: you NEVER regret buying cashmere. Well, cashmere that doesn't cost a car payment. All of these pieces are under $150, and most are under $100.
This cashmere cardigan I'm wearing is marked down to just $89 which is less than I paid for it during the Anny Sale. It's available in black and light pink and the softest thing known to man. It's lightweight but still keeps me warm...not sure how cashmere does it. It's just that magical.
Since the tan color in my cardigan is sold out I wanted to pull a very similar piece in that color as an alternative. This one is a little longer and the lapel is flat. It is a little pricier, on sale for $150, but it is a timeless piece you'll wear year after year. It comes in tan, black, heather charcoal, and emerald green.
A cashmere wrap is another great option for layering that is truly versatile. Wear it as a shawl, a scarf, or a wrap (throw one end over your shoulder to close the front). I bought the gray last year and wear it with everything and everywhere, including on plane and car rides (the AC blasting is my nemesis) and to football games.
BLAZERS
Very few clients have I worked with that I don't tell to get at least one great blazer. Regardless of your style type there is a blazer that works for you! From a classic navy to a preppy pink or trendy plaid, a blazer pulls together a work look, brings a tailored finish to casual separates, and even adds that third-piece extra interest to elevate your look.
This classic blazer from J. Crew is on sale for under $120, down from the the normal price of $200. It comes in navy, pink, black, and light gray.
Oversized and plaid? What fall fashion trend dreams are made of! This menswear-inspired blazer is meant more for street style than office wear, but nonetheless it's an awesome piece to wear over a zip-up hoodie and dark skinnies or with ripped jeans and heels. Definitely a piece you're meant to have fun with!
(wear it with the matching skort for a co-ord look!)
SHOES
Sale shoe shopping may be the best kind of shopping under the sun. Nordstrom's marked down all kinds of shoes, both the everyday variety and the kind you wear when you're feeling a little sassy and taking an Uber.
Love the harness detail on these. Western influence is showing up again this year via the Americana trend (see the prairie dresses we already discussed). These are the perfect kind of booties to wear with dresses and jeans. If you have ankle length jeans, you want a bootie like this that shows some skin between your hem and the top of your boot. Love the neutral color of these, too, but they also come in black leather and burgundy suede.
You have-to have-to have-to have a pair of minimal nude strappy sandals. They go with everything from skinny pants to cocktail dresses. So often a clunky looking shoe is the reason we don't like an outfit, a problem that's easily solved by this barely-there sandal.
If you gravitate towards open-toe booties as your dressy-casual shoe of choice, look to these chunky heeled sandals to give you the same comfort and stability with the styling of a heel.
Paging Miss Sass! Are these heels killer or what? The stiletto design is so sexy and the studs give them a little edge. They also come in white, tan, and pink.
I bought these booties in the paler tan color and love them so much! They're extremely comfortable and easy to walk in for a heeled shoe. They come in this honeyed tan, too, as well as black and white. A fabulous heeled bootie if you're in the market.
Every time I get the chance I wear these studded mules; I love them so much! So easy to walk in, so cute with everything from skirts and dresses to boyfriend jeans. It's the kind of shoe that makes you feel like you dressed up but isn't scary to walk in in public haha! They come in white, black, red, and honey brown.
COATS + JACKETS
Like it or not, cold weather is coming. Best to get prepared now and not miss a beat!
How gorgeous is this faux suede trench coat with the wing lapels? I just want to wrap myself up in it!
EXTRAS
A few fun extra faves that don't fit into any of the above categroeis but are too good to leave out!
Best. Sweater. Ever. So perfectly slouchy and comfy. I sized up to a medium and loved the fit.
That's a wrap for today's post! Man, my bank account is trembling with all the damage I want to do during this sale haha!
Hoping everyone is having a great week! We're almost to Friday again what what -- don't you just love a short week?!
