Renewed Inspiration
Ooommmggg spring is in the air! Wait, hear that? That's me singing Olaf's little summertime ditty because I'm just in that type of happy, springy mood LOL! I used to not really put much stock in seasonal depression or the impact of sun on our moods but dern I'm a full-blown believer now!
If you read this post about my health struggles late last year, you know that it's been a windy road getting back to full speed. Trying to prioritize my physical and emotional well-being while also battling the flu that hit Harlow and me has really deflated my sails of inspiration. That, and I was just about out of ways to wear a sweater with leggings. And rain boots. 'Cause I swear it's al.ways.raining.
But THIS day, this gorgeous, sixty-five degree day brought it all back. Whenever I feel myself getting excited and inspired again I always visualize like a superhero movie when the hero's been thisclose to running out of fuel but then it builds back up and they pick up speed and go flying to save the day. Hahaha yep these are things I think about.
Anyhoo. I got this kimono a week or so ago and y'all it's my FAVE spring trend right now! I couldn't wait to wear it. It's one of those pieces that you can add to a simple jeans-and-tee outfit or a dress and it's immediately updated. I even built some outfit inspiration boards below for you to check out! You can find a kimono in just about any color combination that floats your boat, and any price for that matter. The kimonos in my shoppable collage range from $30-$200 FYI.
The last thing that got my inspiration engines revving again was this new preset I tinkered with in Lightroom! It's very different from the other bright or airy photos I've been posting but my eye is really drawn to this sort of high-contrast, dramatic look right now.
I bought this preset from one of my fave influencers and it's changed everything. After doing a little research, I discovered that so many photographers and bloggers I love use Lightroom presets that other people/brands sell! You can always create your own but I'm not experienced enough with the software to build my own from scratch. So, I took the preset I bought and adjusted it to bring up the vibrancy and balance the colors. Just being able to type that sentence makes me so happy because I was initially so intimidated by the whole thing but now I "get it" a little more and it's really fun!
With the next two weeks I'm coming out with my Spring Style Guide, talking about the biggest spring trends and how to wear them if your style is more classic or trend-focused. Not every trend is for everyone, but for those that are more wearable, there is usually a way to adapt it to your personal style! I'm really looking forward to sharing that one with you :D
And yeppers -- kimonos will be on there! I believe so much in this pretty boho-chic trend and that anybody can wear it. I wear mine mostly with jeans and a tee, and I will totally be wearing it over a swimsuit this summer! Talk about the easiest cover-up ever to throw in your suitcase! It's a cover-up by day, a dress topper by night! Such a great travel piece.

Let me just reiterate what a perfect travel companion a kimono is! You can wear it any time of day. Over your bathing suit is a no-brainer, and the way it floats in a summer breeze is pretty dreamy may I add. It also looks amazing with shorts and dresses, and gives them that "third piece" added interest that elevates an otherwise simple outfit!

Aren't these all SO pretty?? The large majority of these pieces ring in under $100 and are worth it for how much versatility they'll give your spring and summer wardrobes. I already want more!
