Daytime to Dressy
| SHOP THE POST |
Hel-lo Hump Day! During the Nordstrom sale I picked up this rosy pink slip dress and I've worn it so much already! I love slip dresses and actually wrote a piece last fall on two ways to wear a slip dress...so here's the 2017 version!
On Mike and I's anniversary, I wore it with some strappy sandals and a choker necklace for a minimalist look. It felt date night-y, ya know? :D Sadly I don't get to go on date nights as much as I wish (and literally as I'm typing this Steve Harvey is talking about how important they are for married couples LOL!). I found two other ways I can style this same dress to get more use out of it other than on the occasional outing with my hubby.
- DAYTIME -
For daytime I layer a crew neck tee underneath the dress and slip on some sneakers. The length of the dress is totally mom friendly AND despite it's silky appearance it's machine washable. I chose black and white for my color palette but you could definitely introduce more color like burgundy or navy, both of which look beautiful with mauve/rose tones!
I'm wearing MAC Lipstick in 'Creme Cup' here! It's such a fun shade of pink :)
| DRESSY |
A lot of times when I dress up I want to wear something that looks elevated but feels comfortable so that I don't lose confidence. Even the chicest outfit will make you feel like a deer in headlights if you're tugging or pulling at it, or if for whatever reason you just don't feel captivating in it!
When I go out for events or meetings, I choose to wear on-trend pieces that are easy to move in, including my shoes. Yes, I own Louboutins and I'm telling you, those puppies are not easy to walk in and if I'm worried about busting my tail then I can't relax and enjoy the evening! A bootie with a wide heel is a great option especially in striking velvet or a trendy floral pattern. I love repeating different shades of the same color in an outift, which is what I did here by wearing a darker rose cardigan over the slip dress.
Hopefully these ideas will come in handy for a little outfit inspiration this season! Thanks for coming by the blog today -- see you Friday for another Frugal Friday round-up!
