What To Wear | New Year's Eve

Few holidays rival New Year's Eve in applying pressure to party like a rock star with equally on-point style. As long as you've got a clock, some champagne, and something sparkly, you should be all set, yet it's gotten a tad more complicated than that. While I can't help you decide which invitation to accept, or whether to post up at a bar or hit up a friend's house party, I can offer some suggestions on how to ring in 2017 looking like a boss.

My New Year's Eve style CliffsNotes:

  • Sequins, glitter, and sparkles were put on this Earth for New Year's Eve. When in doubt, dress like a disco ball.

  • Keep the holiday vibe going with seasonal hues, prints, and pops of colors. Think burgundy, velvet, plaid, and metallics.

  • Work in something new Santa left under the tree, like a shiny new trinket or a forever bag.

  • Elevate casual looks with luxe accessories like a fur stole, fuzzy pumps, and thematic jewelry -- these champagne coupe earrings were born to be worn on NYE.

The bottom line: make it shine! Even a graphic sweatshirt with a fun slogan in metallic font can feel festive if you're celebrating on the couch. Or a pair of smart flats with blingy embellishments -- try wearing them with leggings or a full skirt. The point is, you don't always have to think big...but it sure is fun to go all-out every once in a while.

Looking for some outfit inspo? I've got eight outfit ideas and over ten dress suggestions for a killer New Year's Eve ensem. Some items you may already have in your closet...and some may be the answer to that wad of Christmas cash burning a hole in your pocket!

| LBT: LITTLE BLACK TOP |

Show a little skin with an off-the-shoulder blouse or spaghetti strap cami in classic black. Pair your subtly sexy LBT with a statement skirt, like a colorful maxi or pleated midi. Let loose with some bold accessories. Bright red and rich pinks make a killer combo. Emphasize the sweet nostalgia of a pleated skirt with a vintage-inspired t-strap heel.

Bonus: both of these skirts are from the Buru White Label collection and are machine washable!

| FANCY PANTS |

L: Top | Pants (under $30!)| Earrings | Bag | Shoes

Dare to step away from the dress dress code and take a champagne-fueled spin in some fancy pants! Patterned pants always make an impact and it takes some chutzpah to wear them. If you're going to go for it, own it! Skip the tee or basic blouse for a top with a little feminine flare. Don't step off the gas with your accessories -- have fun with feminine frills and motifs like bows and champagne coupes!

| PINK SEQUINS |

R: Top (under $30!) | Pants | Earrings | Bag | Shoes

There are sequins...and then there are pink sequins. (Fan girls of Jem and the Holograms...this one's for you!). Try a monotone look by keeping all the elements of your ensem in the pink family: earrings, bag, shoes. (Yep, rose gold counts!). Or let a pop of pink sweeten up a glam black and gold outfit. The sequin tank and flowing trousers are a match made in heaven but can be broken up and worn beyond NYE.

| FUR ACCENTS |

Nothing screams winter style quite like a fur accent. A cozy stole, clutch, or even a vampy shoe in luxe fur instantly elevates an outfit. A statement shoe and flirty dress are for the girl who likes to be the center of attention, accented by star jewelry to match her star quality. On the flip side, elements of elegance can make a simple outfit feel fancy for a more intimate gathering. A knit sweater dress topped with a wrap blazer and fur stole feels seasonally chic, made dressier by a minimal heel and foldover clutch.

| DRESS TO IMPRESS |

A killer dress needs no explanation. Knock 'em dead darling.

Wishing you a fun and festive New Year's Eve however you celebrate! I'll be living vicariously through you as I'll likely be popping bottles and pouring bubbly in sweatpants, knee deep in boxes as we spend our first night in our new house!
