Miss New Beauty
Truth time: I'm not a beauty product addict. I'm a product loyalist. Meaning, I don't subscribe to Allure, and I can count my Sephora Insider points on one hand. But when I do find something I love, I fall hard. These products had me at hello, instant faves used in heavy rotation on a daily or weekly basis. I included info on where to snag each one here in Asheville, or you can simply click the product name to shop online.
1 | Chanel No. 5 Body Oil: I love the feeling of body oil on my skin after a pampering bath or shower. I use this when I want to feel a little fancy, or before a dressed-up night out. A little goes a long way, so this bottle will last a long time. Local retailer: Belk, Asheville Mall.
2 | Bumble & Bumble Don't Blow It: I've always wanted to be able to air dry my hair on-the-go but it's a huuuuge no. Talk about flat and unattractive. Anyways, I still can't (won't) leave the house with wet hair and expect good things, but this Bumble product has helped a lot. Here's how I use it: I take a shower at night after Harlow goes down, apply this product to towel-dried, combed out hair, and hit the hay. When I wake up in the morning, my hair has good texture and body that I can style however I want. I had to experiment a bit to see how much my hair needed, but I will say I use more than the instructions suggest and I don't have a ton of hair. I also have to watch how much I apply to my hairline, otherwise my bangs will be a hot mess in the AM. If I don't heat style it, I usually need to smooth it down a bit, but like I said, body! Local retailer: Eclipse Salon, Downtown.
3 | Davines Your Hair Assistant Perfecting Hairspray: The answer to my hairspray prayers! My thin hair s easily damaged by super sticky hairsprays but needs something strong enough to hold waves or curls. Charlotte from Ananda West recommended this product and I LOVE it! It holds everything in place without giving me that helmet head look, and you don't have to use half the bottle to achieve good results. Local retailer: Ananda West, Wedge Studios.
4 | Dior Fix It Primer + Concealer: The name says it all. It's a primer and concealer in one glorious tube. (And isn't it a pretty tube? I just love good packaging). At this point, I have a multitude of issues I need my concealer to correct: under-eye circles, age spots, uneven skin tone, and the occasional blemish. Fix It helps me correct all of those issues. You really should apply it with a brush (probably not a have to, but I recommend it), and honestly that almost prevented me from wanting to try it. Just another step I wanted to skip. I relented and now I think I should've been using a brush all along. It really helps target the problem area better than just a finger or a beauty sponge. Local Retailer: Dillards, Asheville Mall.
5 | Aveda Volumizing Tonic: My pitiful fine hair needs all the help it can get. This volumizing spray gives my hair lift and shine, and smells so good. I normally use Bumble & Bumble's Thickening Spray, which I still love, but I'm liking this for a change. Local Retailer: Natural Impressions Salon, Biltmore Park.
