White Party

There's something about wearing head-to-toe white that's both exhilarating and terrifying. One one hand you feel like a Hamptons somebody with an invite to Puff Daddy's famous party. On the other, you're basically afraid to go outside your front door. Or come within 500 feet of anything tomato based.

Crisp summer whites just beg to be worn on a leisurely weekend when you're not in the mood to worry about things like ketchup splatter or the tint of your cocktail. Bleached poplin and sliced denim feel so right even when the heat index feels so wrong. And this off-the-shoulder blouse is so, so right.

I love the clean and classic feel of this top. It's lightweight enough for day or night wear, and the length balances out both skinny denim and short shorts alike. Not to mention it's a near flawless replica of a much pricier version. (ICYMI, take a peek at my post on spot-on designer dupes).

Finding the right white denim is a much trickier subject. Jean shopping ranks right next to bathing suit shopping in terms of fashion masochism, and that's just for your basic blue jean, let alone a white skinny pair. Add in baby weight and it's a form of torture punishable by law.

Luckily I found these mid-rise distressed skinnies for under $40. I really love how soft and stretchy they are, extra bonuses for the baby weight and summer heat. Emphasis on the stretchy, though, guys. I highly recommend sizing down.

As you can see, I'm still getting mileage out of my LR Henry sandals from a few seasons past. They're such an argument for spending more on your shoes and bags than trendy clothing. (See: pricey shoes, el cheap-o torn white jeans). Still enjoying my bucket bag, too, when I'm not schlepping around a big tote.

(Peek-a-Boo!)

Rounded sunglasses are another accessory that's getting major play these days. These were only $25 (before the discount!) and come in a variety of colors. I'm planning on going back for either this pink retro pair or these rose-tinted aviators while they're on sale.

Considering the all white canvas and cut of my top, I wanted to keep things simple around my face and shoulders. My girlfriends gave me this beautiful necklace with Harlow's birthstone for my birthday last year. The delicate chain and teardrop stone accentuate the neck in such a lovely way.

LOVE these diamond bar earrings. I wear them all the time. For some reason I just don't have the desire for your standard diamond stud earring. These were just different enough to spark my interest.

Sending lots of summer love...

xxBrooke
